Learning

Learning in social work has always been a mix of academic teaching and learning, practice learning and knowledge exchange, including continuing professional development (CPD), seminars, postqualifying training etc.

The material that is presented here relates, of course, to social work education at Edinburgh. To find out more about the curricula of other universities, you'll need to turn to wider reading on the history of social work education - the references in the Literature section will help. We can also find lists of courses in the appendices of some of the seminal texts.  For example, the list of university social science courses in 1949-50, as presented by Younghusband, is available here.
