The Children's Hearings (Scotland) Act 2011 governs children's hearings today. It came into force on 24 June 2013. The Act created a national convenor and national body (Children's Hearings Scotland). It also, controversially, created a national Safeguarder panel 'to improve consistency and standards'. Changes were also made to the ways hearings make decisions.
