Timeline :: College of Social Work ends

Silhouette for no photo

The College of Social Work closed after the government rejected proposals from the College that it should be given responsibility for additional functions such as post-qualifying training, which would have secured its income at a time when it was experiencing severe financial difficulties. This decision came on the back of a review of the College's function and business model with the Department of Health and the Department of Education. It was also acknowledged that the number of members it had been able to attract had been far less than originally hoped, and as a result, it had had to rely on central government and local authority support through corporate memberships.
