Enquiry & Action Learniing (EAL) was introduced to the Master of Social Work programme. This was a problem-based approach that had first been pioneered in social work at the University of York in 1981, drawing from medical and nurse training. In EAL, students work in small groups on scenarios drawn from practice, supported by a facilitator.
