Timeline :: Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Scotland Act

The Mental Health (Care and Treatment) Scotland Act 2003 repealed the 1984 Act and instituted the person-centred Millan principles which were written into the Act itself.A new Mental Health Tribunal replaced hearings in Sheriff Courts and compulsion in the community as an alternative to compulsory inpatient care was introduced.
