A PG Certificate in Adult Protection was introduced in 2008, recruiting for the first time in 2009, on the back of influential legislation - the first of its kind in the UK - regarding the protection of adults. This was a part-time, distance learning course, and students were all employed by local authorities. 12 students did the first course. Unfortunately, numbers never grew in the way that had been anticipated. The course was put on hold in 2012.
