A report in The Scotsman newspaper of 11th December 1928, stated that at the 10th annual meeting of the School, presided over by Professor Kemp Smith, the following resolution was carried: "That the Edinburgh School of Social Study and Training be taken over by the University of Edinburgh, as of 1st October 1928, and the whole funds and property of every kind whatsoever, including furniture, books, pictures, stationery, and all other articles of plenishing or ornament, belonging to the said School, be transferred to said University as at that date, and that the DCouncil of said School be now dissolved."

At the meeting, it was explained that the School had begun as an experiment, but that this had been successful, and that the University ws now willing to take responsibility "financially and otherwise for its future".
