A study of social worker's views on the barriers to promoting positive risk-taking for young disabled adults.

Aims

  • To identify the barriers that make it difficult for social workers to promote positive risk-taking and relationship choices for young adults (16-25) with learning disabilities/difficulties.
  • To propose potential practical solutions that might remove some of these barriers.

Methods

  • Textual analysis of relevant legislation, local risk assessment policy (and associated risk assessment forms), and the literature on this topic.
  • Structured focus group with social workers who have experience of working with this client group.
