Improving service user participation in Child Protection in Midlothian: exploring service user and practitioner perspectives.

Aims

  • To investigate and determine what barriers exist in relation to service user participation in statutory child protection within Midlothian.
  • To draw up an action plan that can identify ways to overcome these barriers.

Methods

  • 3 structured focus groups with social work staff across all aspects of fieldwork delivery.
  • Literature review: what current research tells us about the impact of child protection on families and the role of participation in this.
