Breaking The Chains: Human Rights and Global Mental Health: 23rd November 2017

We are pleased to have Dr Erminia Colucci, University of Middlesex to screen her film titled: ‘Breaking the Chains: Human Rights Abuses of the Mentally Ill’. The film is s an ethnographic documentary that examines the use of physical restraint and confinement of persons' experiencing mental illness in Indonesia, a practice known as pasung (more details on film below). The screening will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Dr Selena Gleadow Ware, and involving Dr Colucci, Neil Quinn (University of Strathclyde), Professor Jill Stavert (Edinburgh Napier University), and Carol Tibi-Opi.
