Administrative Data: using routinely collected administrative for research in child welfare
Janice McGhee leads the social work strand of the ESRC Administrative Data Research Centre - Scotland (ADRC-S). The centre is one of four innovative research centres across the 4 jurisdictions of the UK, which in turn are part of the Administrative Data Research Network (ADRN). The network is aimed at supporting research based on linked data between government departments. The centre is funded by the ESRC as part of their investment in 'Big Data". A key aim is to make routinely-collected data accessible to researchers in ways that prevent identification of individuals and within safe and secure systems. The centres will support the development of innovative research relevant to a broad range of users including policymakers and practitioners.
