Social Work: Study

Some of our Students

Postcards from around the world...

Students from around the world join us on our BSc, MSW and PhD programmes.  Here are some of their experiences of being a Social Work student at the University of Edinburgh.

Rosemary Okoli (Nigeria)

Doing a PhD at Edinburgh University was one of the best things that has happened to me. Edinburgh Uni, with its famous alumni, excellent educational and non educational facilities and strong academic community, was academically, socially, physically and spiritually rewarding, and the stunning landscape and exciting cultural and social life of the city of Edinburgh also added much value to my life and studies.

Alexandr Dedovets (Kazakhstan)

I came to Edinburgh from Kazakhstan, and was sponsored by my country's government to undertake social work training here.

I think Edinburgh is a very beautiful city - it's not too big, and I like that too. I have enjoyed being in Edinburgh, and will return to my country at the end of my studies.

Sandra Engstrom (Canada)

As a PhD student I am constantly aware as to the resources available to me in order to achieve to the best of my abilities. As an International Student, I am also incredibly impressed with the support and opportunities to socialise, meet other students and learn about the Scottish culture.

I am very proud to be a student at the University of Edinburgh and have the confidence that I will get through the PhD process with success.
